Airstream Remodel

This summer Neal and Molly purchased a 1974 Airstream Sovereign! 31 spacious feet of classic travel trailer that will be their home in NC while Neal gets a degree.
Our fist trip to work on it was during a record breaking deluge. We discovered that the Airstream's roof, windows and weatherstripping leaked. Turning the water on for the first time proved that the toilet and pipes leaked in multiple places. After gutting the living and bedrooms we discovered that the walls and floor leaked.
Richard joined us and our goals of painting and decorating turned into keeping water where it belonged. We spent 4 days in rain and "shoe sucking" mud while we caulked, installed new weatherstripping, replaced rotten spots in the subfloor, and tried to install new plumbing fixtures.
Their vintage trailor was decked out in typical 70's style, though, not as tacky as I remember most decore from that decade. Neal and Molly had a vision for how they wanted it to be, they showed me pics and blogs, we made plans, and they let me play! Moly and I returned a few weeks later and got to do the fun stuff. We were there for a whole week painting, caulking, installing laminate flooring, rescreening windows, taping gaping joints hidden behind trim around the bottom of the trailer, riveting and unriveting, and repairing plumbing leaks. We worked until 12 most nights and accomplished so much more than we expected! We came home and I sewed 2 large cushion covers and 8 pillows, plus 6 curtain panels for the bedroom. Neal, Molly and their trusty dog, Buckley, moved in last week. They have installed the banquette seats and table that we built in our garage,
Neal has repaired the propane water heater and he and Molly are making plans to build a bed frame with storage underneath. I'll share more "Before and Afters" as I get more pics.
